Kickballers!
The time has come to kick of the historic first season of WAKA Winter Kickball on the Peninsula! We have 9 teams and over 150 die hard, dedicated kickballers ready to take over the fields at Gosnold's Hope Park and the bar at Luckie's Dueling Pianos! As we prepare for week 1, I just wanted to shoot a couple of reminders/updates out there!
- Schedule: You can find a schedule either here or on the League Website: www.kickball.com/varaptor
- Please arrive to the fields at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled start time and be ready to start on time. Each WAKA Kickball game should take 45 minutes to an hour to complete. At this point, we won't be instituting any formal time limits, however, it's important that we be respectful of our fellow kickballers times and keep the afternoon on schedule.
- Teams are required to referee 5 games throughout the season. Please be sure to note your reffing assignments on the schedule.
- Each team is scheduled for 10 games, although only a minimum of 8 games are guaranteed in cases of rain outs.
- Weather Policy: Speaking of... In case of inclement weather, here are the guidelines we'll be using when determining whether or not we need to cancel.
- If the weather is below 32 degrees we may cancel.
- If the temperature is below 40-45 and there is precipitation we will cancel.
- If there is extremely heavy precipitation that would make everyone miserable or pose a considerable safety risk, we will cancel games.
- In the event of a cancellation, you will receive an e-mail from me, as well as updates on the VA Peninsula Facebook and Twitter accounts.
- We do play in light/moderate rain depending on the temperature, so please do not assume we're canceled if there is some rain/snow fall.
- As always, the safety of our players will be the primary concern when making these decisions.
- Fields: All of our regular season games will be played at Gosnold's Hope Park in Hampton
- 901 E. Little Back River Rd, Hampton, VA (click here for a map)
- We will be setting up on the pee wee football fields on the west side of the park. If you turn onto Rockwell Dr at the 7-11, you won't be able to miss it.
- Hampton City law prohibits the consumption of alcoholic beverages on Park property.
Week 1 Luckie's After Party / Meet N Greet! After the games this week, head on over to our great sponsor, Luckie's Dueling Pianos, in the Hampton Power Plant for an official meet and greet with your fellow kickballers! Get to know your new teammates and rivals better while enjoying a FREE appetizer buffet and some complimentary pitchers of beer!
