C Guy Sumrell puts Nicole Plesha out early in the game.
Well, this past Saturday turned out to be a cold, windy day. And when I say windy, I mean freaking bigtime windy, dude! The Frosty's had a triple header and were out there all afternoon in that stuff. Brrrrrr!!!  It sure made things difficult on both sides of the ball. On field 1, it made kicking away impossible and on field 3, it made pitching incredibly difficult... but we love a challenge!

1st scoop...
Our first game of the day was against the mighty Pounders! (Did I just say "mighty"??) with the wind in the defenses favor, it was basically a game of infield strategy. The Frosty's held the Pounders to no runs in the 1st inning, and in the bottom of the first loaded those bases up, baby! The Pounders tried to hold their ground but allowed 2 runs that inning.  Mark "Golden Arm" Flores did his part as pitcher and managed to foul out 2 of the Pounder's best kickers to keep their scoring low, but it wasn't enough. The Pounders kept pounding and managed to get 3 runs under their belt over the next few innings. The Frosty's were in a position to score for the tying run in the waning minutes of the game, but a controversial call was made that ruled JP Wilkinson out when he slid into 3rd. I think (SLAP) that it (A) was the best call he could (REF!!) have made, and it was a goo..(cough, cough!!) a goo...(kack!!) an alright call. ;). The Pounders managed to come from behind and pull out a 3-2 win.  Hats off to the Pounders for a fun and challenging game!

2 scoops of ice cream....
Moving on to the second game... the Foul Balls were on our sh... um... they were next. We were warmed up and ready to go and more than a little pumped to get a win. Playing on the same field gave us an advantage on how to work with (or against) that damned wind! Adam "Honey Bunch" Henry did a little pitching for the first time this season for the Frosty's against the Foul Balls and did really well. Neither team kicked it out of the infield in this game as well. It was a boring day for the outfielders as all they did was back up the infield. Michael Seals held his ground at the charger position as he scooped up one ball after another and threw them out at first.
The Frosty's brought in 3 runners in this game while the Foulies only brought in 1. And I know you're dying to know that M "I'm on fire" K actually got on base this game! Yep, un-freakin-believable!! Way to go, MK!! ;)

3 scoops of deliciousness!!
Finally on to game 3! (Ok, who the heck made this schedule up?! I'm on to you, Mr. Buttworth!) we thought the wind was bad on field 1?! It was super wicked on field 3!  With the wind blowing the other direction George Kiriazidis and Mark Flores had to change strategies on pitching against Kick Ass. That sucker would just die right before the plate and veer to the right. But the wind was no match for the Golden Arm of Mark Flores! I'll never forget one of the pitches he made in the 1st or 2nd inning where he threw it about 4 feet to the left of the plate. On the second bounce it was about 2 ft to the left of the plate and about a foot in front of it... then the wind took it and it nicely bounced diagonally right over home plate for a wicked strike!!! O.M.Geeeeee, is all I can say! Sweet curve ball!!! His talents as pitcher caused yet another foul out against Kick Ass. We need to get a medal for this guy or something! He's burning up the mound!
In the 3rd inning the score was 2-0 Frosty's. I (Karen Savell, being of sound mind and... not a bad lookin' body... cough, cough!) got my kick in, then had to leave in a hurry to get to another engagement real quick-like!  The plan was to eat the out if my turn should come up again to reciprocate the out that Manny Anderson had to take in the first game we played against each other. So, if that happened... you're welcome! If not, that was our intent. Anyway, the rest of the game is hearsay on what happened... there were reports of a controversial call (Big surprise!!!) where Kick Ass player Manny was called safe when he was really out or something like that... but it's all good because the Frosty's finished on top with a 3-2 win.

Honey Bunches lays down a nice bunt.

The Frosty's finished the day with 2 wins and 1 loss!

Interesting Frosty stats:
Adam "Honey Bunch" Henry (per Andrea Hoffman) and Brian Neal were a perfect 6-6 on the weekend. Can't hold these dudes back!!
Mark Flores nearly doubled his season total of foul outs in the Pounders game taking out their best deep ball kicker Allen Walker and their best line drive kicking threat Wesley McClain in crucial situations. Flores is a true "Kula Lima"!  (I HOPE this means Golden Arm in Hawaiian...if not I'm terribly sorry for calling you an insulting name. ;)
Adam Henry got to make his pitching debut this week against Foul Balls.
JP Wilkinson was churning up the base paths this weekend and scored in every single game!
Holly Lenard made her season debut with us this past weekend! (Finally! Sheesh!)

When Flores was asked how in the world he pitches like a freakin' ROCK STAR, he said, "I use the Force. It is strong with me. I have not yet finished my Jedi training, but I feel like I'm ready to complete the trials any day now."

...Well that explains a lot! ;)
