Offseason News & Notes - 3.15.2012

NoShoes to Sign Soon?
After posting on the Facebook group page his Fall 2011 offensive stats a couple weeks ago (20 for 23, 0.870 while playing with VD, for those curious), Bryan "NoShoes" Moore has been one of the most sought after unrestricted free agents on the market. Many suitors have been pursuing the self described "On Base Machine", however sources indicate that Kick Ass general manager Manny Anderson is close to signing Moore. The two were observed discussing details over a couple beers late in the VA Raptor season at Luckie's. Can Manny close the deal or will another team swoop in and make a better offer (full benefits plus 2 cases of pedialyte?).

"... Bryan owns a falcon, a German Shephard, and has a job."

VA Peninsula - Where WAKA Employees are bred
It's with bitter sweetness that we say goodbye to one of the members of our kickball community this month. The Chubby Gangsters Lamel Moore and his family are moving up north to Rhode Island to be closer to home. His deep love of kickball will be making the trip with him though, as he's accepted a job with WAKA as a part time customer service rep. Lamel will be running 3 leagues in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Lamel is actually the 2nd VA Peninsula player to leave the area and get a job with WAKA. In 2011, the Gangsters' Joel Dusoe moved to Northern Virginia after accepting a position as a regional customer service manager. Who will be the next VA Peninsula to get hired by WAKA? (Send your resumes to resumes@kickball.com. We're hiring CSRs to run leagues all over Hampton Roads!)

Lamel, we'll miss you around here, bro. Best wishes on your move and future endeavors. Look forward to hearing about your home brews and your new leagues!

MKE Out For Season With Torn ACL; Finds Potential Replacement Player
Free Ballin's Mary Katherine Evans received bad news this week when results of her MRI came back, indicating a fully torn ACL. MKE was injured in the VA Raptor tournament after a teammate collided with her on the sidelines during Frank Council's dramatic 2 run home run. She was flown to Dr. Jim Andrews in Alabama for the exam, where she received the unfortunate news.

With Mary Katherine on the 60 day DL, Free Ballin' has begun looking for replacements for their lineup. Inspired by the epic "Air Bud" trilogy, they've appealed the league office to see if MK's Labrador, Jules, can take her spot on the roster. At the time of this publication, the league office has not commented on whether this will be allowed. However, most pundits believe Commissioner Wentworth will shoot the proposal down, mostly due to his bias against canines. (FUCK DOGS! CATS RULE!)

"Put me in, coach! WOOF WOOF!"

That's just some of the news and notes around the league. Registration is heating up, with less than 2 weeks left to sign up! Don't miss out, join today at www.kickball.com/vapeninsula.
