Ballsacks are Victorious of the Foulies

Recap by Karen "Silent Killer" Savell

Victory is tasting pretty sweet for the Ballsacks lately with their 3rd win in a row against the Foul Balls crew this past WAKA Wednesday. They've got their noses to the grindstone and balls to the walls as they continue to hone their skills for the latter part of the season where it's gonna get super tricky. JFK is still undefeated and The Sitch has won 2 tournaments in a row, and they will both prove interesting matchups when they collide with the awesomeness of the BalllllllllllllllllllllllllSACKS!! (Are you impressed yet?!). Well, you should be!

Yeah, Battlestar has a moderate schedule in the beginning of the season, and the real test will be when they meet up with the "big guys", but I'm telling you, this team is FOR REAL!! These talented guys and gals are clicking and their communication and game plans are awesome. That's a great formula for a winning team right there. Anyway, let's get to the game.....

The pregame injury report for the Foulies showed that Joe Preseault was out with a hammy strain and that meant there was no help from the star charger that night. (Heal up fast, Joe!) Battlestar elected to be the away team and got busy kickin'. During this inning Michael "Get the heck outa my way" Machie ran to second as the ball was kicked in the outfield and missed. As he rounded 2nd, the person with the ball was not 2 freaking feet away from him, and of course Mike kept running, but not before he had to shove the short stop out of the running lane to proceed to 3rd....safely! (How does he DO that?!) The Ballsacks acquired 4 runs before the inning was over.

Not so much for the Foulies, though. With one runner on 1st, the second kicker popped it up enough for Charger Kyle Rowley to slide under it for the catch. He saw the 1st base runner off the base and threw it to 1st baseman Geoff Morehart to get the out for a quick double play. In the 2nd inning Lorraine Adkins made a nice catch in right field for a solid out. Also, in the 3rd inning Dennis Gholson decided to boot it (and I mean BOOT IT) really high to right center field where MVPeter Kuhr was waiting for it (to come down....for about, oh....5 minutes... I think he even checked his watch....) for a nice catch! The outfield was again "dropless" in this game!

The Ballsacks worked on their kicking skills with the steel toes of Brandon Silver, Jason Lantz, Geoff Morehart, and Michael Machie as they worked on their kick aways. Even Alison Easterday did some kick aways with runners on 1st and 2nd. Her plan was to kick away to right field to advance the runners, but the first one was fouled out around 1st based where Jesse Rodgers did a dive/face plant for it and missed. I think she enjoying seeing him do that so she did it again, where Jesse again dived and face planted for the ball but it was again out of reach. 3rd time is a charm, though, as she kicked a pop up right to him for the out. (Way to hang, Jesse! Break you! {It's a Dragos thing...})

In the 4th inning the Ballsacks decided to change things up a bit and let the ladies take over the infield! Erin Machie held down home plate, Nicole Plesha took 1st, Alison Easterday took 3rd, Lorraine Adkins played Charger and the Silent Killer, Karen Savell, was the pitcher! She threw curve balls, fast balls, spit balls, and change ups to confuse the enemy!! Ok, reality check...they came in slow but most were right over the plate! The ladies held their ground as the Foulies tried to score. They got soooo close! With 3 runners on base and 2 outs the kicker bunted toward the pitcher where the Silent Killer was able to run up on it and toss it to Mrs. Erin Machie for the final out of the inning and the shut out continued. WAY TO GO LADIES!!! What a fun inning! (FYI, the Yankees, Rangers, AND the Nats have all gotten in touch with the Silent Killer's agent on trying to sign her up with their teams. Negotiations are on going and can't be disclosed at this time...Hey, why not?!)

The final inning ended when a short kick was made between right and right center where the Silent Killer ran in for the...umm...silent kill, and caught it on the run for the final out of the game and sealed the shut out win against the Foulies.

Final score 11-0 BalllllllllllllllSACKS!
