Captain and founder Buster Patterson’s move across the country left many wondering what would become of the Chubby Gangsters.  Most of WAKA, including many CGs themselves, believed it was to be the end of this long-running team. After some late season wins and long conversations, it was decided that the Chubby Gangsters would live on, in the capable hands of Tiffany Morehart.

There are 8 who refused to let go and wanted to carry on the Chubby Gangster name. Tiffany Morehart, Liz Tortolini and Erika Chacra are returning as the veteran ladies. They will be joined by Dave Tortolini, Mikey Nobile, Andrew Kyser and Mike Wezensky. Steve Midlik played a huge part in making this season of the CGs happen, but unfortunately he will be unable to join them on the field, as he is recovering from surgery on his ACL.

They say if you love someone, set them free. If they come back, then it was meant to be. Well, there must be a lot of CG love out there, as there will be a number of former CGs making their return this season. Kim Merritt, Keith Morehart and Rob Kroll are returning from their stint on The Misfits. They were missed last season and are excited for their return. Geralyn Mitchell is making her annual Fall return after spending the Spring with the Moose Knuckles. Nick and Jiselle Anderson realized one winter season was not enough time with the CGs, and are coming around for more. Finally, Crystal Midlik is making her return after taking a 2 year break.

To round off the team, the CGs recruited some talent from inside the WAKA family. Josh Lafountain is coming to the team after making his WAKA debut on the summer draft team Hump Day. Bill Coaty and Barbara Wezensky are joining the CGs after debuting in the Spring season with The Misfits. Bill never lets a ball past him in the outfield, and can kick the crap out of the ball. Barb brings years of softball experience to the team.  Also new to the team is Anthony Leevy, who previously played on New Kickheads, as lead off man and starting catcher. The last outsider to round off the team is Jason Lantz. Jason is a skilled player bringing another big leg to the team…and can do the worm better than anyone…EVER! [Editor's Note: I've seen it, and it is magical]

Expect the Chubby Gangsters to continue to be one of the most fun teams on the field. While their schedule starts out tough, they hope to capitalize on the vast experience on the team to put a number of wins under their belts. This is expected to be one of the best seasons for the Chubby Gangsters.
