Ghostman on Third: Bar Buzz- WAKAgroupies

I’m so excited for this week’s post because we’re talking about the groupies! You've seen them lingering around the fields; cheering people on, chatting up the team, and drinking the team drinks. You've also seen them partying hard at the bar! The groupies are almost as important as the actual team members, if not more so!

They’re significant others who tag along but only to be supportive of you and your addiction.

They’re the kids who think #WAKAwednesdays is just the greatest thing ever because they get to see 300+ adults playing a game they just played at recess the day before…and they get to kick around a big red ball. What kid doesn't want to kick around a big, red, bouncy ball??

They’re the best friends who think you’re crazy because you’re playing this game and get to drink while doing it so naturally they just HAVE to check it out.

They’re the people you bring out, desperately trying to recruit them to your team because you know they’re secretly awesome bunters/catchers/runner/partiers…. –I have successfully recruited like…5 people. #humblebrag. So you show them this super awesome fun time playing kickball and drinking, and then bring them to Luckies and introduce them to … everyone.

They’re the randos at Luckies who think drinking on a Wednesday is cool, then they see 10, 100, 300 people in colorful t-shirts show up and they think they immediately have best friends/someone to drink with/someone to flirt with. –These are my favorite –

I have grown to love WAKA, but we would be nothing without the groupies! Who else could we showoff our mad kickballing and partying skills to?? We NEED our groupies. So go find your groupie and show them some WAKAgroupie love. Like all of these people have.

Now that I’ve successfully written this post, I guess I’ll tell you who won the #BarBuzzBelt. But first, I want to say how AWESOME it was to see so many people out last week! It literally made this decision SO HARD (get it? Like Ball So Hard…). I mean JFK was out in full force and Kickin’ Atoms, Ball So Hard, and Ball and Chain Gang still gives everyone a run for their money. Last week was just so beautiful! AND we even got an epic #AMP (I’m talking about the camera, not just the number of people). I’d like to think the great turnout last week was due to my amazing callout blog…but I guess free beer brings all the WAKAies to the yard…
