FIVE big announcements - BarBuzz

1. I feel like this is a breakup.

Like "Hey, we're done" penciled down on a yellow stickey that I wake up to after a night of drinking.

Getting the news that my beloved Luckies closed is probably worse than getting rejected from a crush, but as all the good love ballads go "every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end".

Change is good; we change teams, we change leagues, we change fields when it rains, and now we're changing bars. And while the bar fortunate enough to host our crazy antics has yet to be announced, let's take this moment to "pour one out for the homies".

2. But let's go back to the past, because last week was DECADES night! I was super impressed by everyone who participated! Rumspringa's 90's grunge and Foul Balls' Togas were some of my favorites. Five Toe Death Kick greased it up with the 50's, Smokin' Bunts repped the gangsters of the 20's, KILFs rocked out the 80's, and I think Hot Dogs and Tacos did the 70's?

I was so impressed to see the outfits y'all played in, props to you because I know Will ripped his toga and my pants didn't stay up. oops.

With it being theme week there wasn't a challenge, because sometimes coming up with clothes fortheme week is challenging enough! This time teams got the 5 points for their team picture at the bar (congrats to Eat My Short Kick for earning your first points for a picture!) and then 2 points per person dressed up in the AMP!

• Foul Balls - what happened? No team picture? No one dressed up at the bar? Will McEndree had a toga at some point.... Y'all had the people! You played the flip cup! I hope I can give you the belt at some point this season...

• KILFs and Smokin' Bunts - for two teams at the top of the social standings, y'all fell a little short. You were both so strong in your belt swap photo - costumes, flare, the whole 9 yards! But only a few repped you in the AMP. I have no doubts that you all will redeem yourselves! Casey Heck - I hope you soldered that belt!

• Five Toe Death Kick - For the third time this season y'all are pulling the numbers. Either this team is way too social, or everyone else isn't. Regardless of the reason, your cokes, white T's, and bouffanted hair rocked the jailhouse. Excited to have the belt with you this week - let's rock the weekly pictures too!

3. We also had a great time at our Boozy Brunch Bash! Though we had to change locations last minute, y'all never let change get in the way of a good time. I had a blast with everyone who came out, and it was even nicer to be the last patrons ever of Finn McCools! We've had some good parties there and I'm definitely looking forward to some good parties in the future under their new name BURGERS AND BARLEY! If anyone is free Friday, 5/22 and wants to check out their new menu, I'll be there around 5:30!

4. Next order of business: Since we'll be at a new bar this week, let's show them exactly what we've got with SHIRT SWAP! My favorite accidental challenge is a great way to get to know players and scope out who your next prospect is...hello hot bods. This is an easy challenge for those not privvey to it - take your shirt off, give it to someone else, wear their shirt, take a picture, post it to facebook. Easy. Nathaniel Johnson is a pro.

5. Last order of business: Post-Tourney & Midseason Party! This is one HUGE blowout for any current WAKA players (Peninsula, Freedom, and Atlantic) as well as anyone playing in the Mid-Atlantic Tournament this weekend. It's at 7:30 at Tapps and we'll have 6 kegs - which you will all drink responsibly. We'll have the guest list at the door when you check in, or you can check in at the fields that morning. We also have the Meet and Greet on Friday at Tapps - 1/2 off drinks and apps 7-9pm!
