VA Peninsula S2015 W8 Round Up

VA Peninsula rolls on.

This past week, VA Peninsula played the last round of games away from our "home" at War Memorial Stadium. Let's take a look at the results from Briarfield week.

Results

Notes & Observations
  • The KILFs improved to 8-0 with an impressive win over KPGM. This season, the KILFs margin of victory in each game has been 4, 4, 4, 5, 4, 3, 4, & 4 runs. They've been remarkable consistent, and have really yet to be challenged. This week, they'll face Smokin' Bunts (5-3), who they defeated, 7-3, in week 1.
  • Eat My Short Kick has a lot of talent, specifically in the infield. Their catcher/charger combo of Calvin Bueltel and Rick Hoogstaten were making some plays against Cardiac on Wednesday. If they could shore up the outfield a bit, they could be a legit threat in the tournament.
  • Despite The Itch being without several standout players, they managed to topple Kick Ass. Really strong result while playing with only 10 in the lineup. People may forget, but Anthony Williams was one of the best chargers in the country years ago. He was called back into action Wednesday, and showed that he's still got the 'rocket laser cannon'.
  • Geoff Morehart was unstoppable on the fast dirt surface of field 2. Bizarro's left hurler was mowing down JFK kickers in their 1-0 victory.
  • Rumspringa's Ricky Holmes is best known for his precision bunting, but in their win over Fireballs, he was doing work in the air. Holmes laced 2 hard liners to drive in runs in the rout.
  • The Foul Balls vs. Five Toe Death Kick match was a back and forth affair. With the game knotted up, the Foulies' Eric Poulin came through in the clutch with a sac fly that scored Will McKendree for the go ahead run.
  • A few weeks ago JFK/KPGM was called for time at Lindsay. I was happy that we had the opportunity to reschedule the full game. These two teams deserved to have the outcome decided with a full hour. Just For Kicks held onto a 2-1 win in the contest.
  • If there is one thing Hot Dogs and Tacos does well, it's score runs. They are currently the top offense in VA Peninsula, averaging 5.56 runs per game.
  • VA Patriot captains, for your consideration, after kicking a home run and a triple on Wednesday, my production is as follows: .667 avg (10/15), 3 2B, 3B, HR, 4 R, 10 RKI, 1.825 OPS. It's a career year! (You didn't really think I'd go the entire post without mentioning this, did you?)
