Ghostman on Third: Smokin' Bunts Tie Up Kick Pitches

Due to unforeseen crazy illnesses, this blog has been absent for a few weeks. I'm sure both of my readers really missed it. Sorry...
First of all, I was unable to blog about the BEST GAME EVER against DCOMB, and I truly regret it. "Bandanna Man"ny Zapata ( Say that 5 times fast. Go ahead. I'll wait....) captains a strong team and really knows how to bring out everyone's inner kickball warrior self. I learned that through playing on his Mid-Atlantic team, Pitch Please. They never let up in that game against Smokin Bunts and rammed through a win. Details from this game are vague at this point but I remember most of the girls bunting perfectly down the line to advance runners. Dammit.... Kaylee Zapata even kicked a bunt triple with an overthrow to 1st, even though she reported later that she was tagged at second it's still in the official books. AND the Silent Killer streak was finally broken! It took 8 games, but all good things must come to an end and what better team to lose it against. Good win for DCOMB!

DCOMB Bad Ass, Bandanna Manny Zapata

Kick Pitches, Get Money came out of the starting blocks quickly and took advantage of a flop of a first inning for Smokin Bunts. They scored 2 runs on us with their speed and aggressive base running. Smokin Bunts came back with 1 run in the first with a sac fly from Casey Heck to bring in Shane Chambers.
The Smokin Bunts held KPGM for the rest of the game even with them loading the bases several times. Journey Thomas kicked a nice bunt down 3rd and the throw was wide and hit the base ref in the foul zone. She ran to second thinking the ball was dead but the first baseman picked the ball up and tagged her in the back before she touched the base. The refs all agreed it was an out. WHAT?! (Discuss that amongst yourselves, but PLEASE don't put this scenario on the Circuit Kickball Talk page. All we'll get is posts about sexist refs, Bez, and who's better: east verses west coast BS)
Moving on! Jeff Shildt of KPGM threw wicked pitches thoughout the game. He was even able to hold Smokin Bunts with bases loaded to keep the game at 2-1. But finally in the 4th inning with 2 runners at 2nd and 3rd, Felicia Griffin bunted down the 1st base line. The pitcher fumbled the ball then tossed it to 1st base but he dropped it! Felicia was called safe, and kicked in the tying run! Way to go Felicia!!!!!!
Smokin Bunts was able to hold KPGM in the final inning for their first tie of the season.

This calls for a celebration! I think 11 of us made it to Tapps that night and we were given the bar belt.
