I have to start off this weeks blog with appreciation to the current belt holders for really continuing to go all out to retain the belt. We met rookie Cody and although we learned more about the Alcobalic desire to keep the belt than we did about Cody. It was the only attempt at the challenge that I saw. They once again took us on a virtual journey with their team out to downtown Hampton. At Tapps, they continued to bring the numbers and mingle and play flip cup. They are following a successful formula thus far. Will it earn them the right to wear the belt one more week?
On the other side of the playing field another team has a
fire in their belly to strap the coveted adornment around them. The fireballs were tripping over their own
pants and showing off their presumptive namesakes to the WAKA world as they
played with flaming crotches. Fireballs
are not just a tasty shot anymore. After
the game, the Fireballs continued to display their enthusiasm and brought out
big numbers to the bar. I hope it is
safe to say that Fireball's Tracy was inviting everyone to her birthday party
next month and showed off some sweet swag.
What neither the Alcobalics nor the Fireballs had on Wednesday was bar
stamina. Both teams left relatively
early leaving some other teams time to shine.
Not all teams are into antics. Some are just there like a comfortable
blanket at the ready for the next chilly draft.
Seeing a sea of Rumspringa blue just always makes me happy. This group of veteran ballers are there doing
their thing and enjoying the company of long time friends. Usually those league superstars that have
been abandoned by their team at the bar can be found near the table of deep
blue regulars. Late night staples Five
Toe Death Kick, Smoking Bunts, Hot Dogs and Tacos, and Foul Balls, were joined
by Kick Ass and Cardiac Arrest to stick it out and represent their teams in the
Close enough to midnight photo.
I'm glad to see so many teams that would have made it hard
for me to choose from among them on any given night, but two teams really want
it bad. Fireballs continue to set
themselves apart and solidly could have won on many night, but one team really
wants it...AGAIN! The Alcobalics are
doing the belt proud. I think incumbent
belt holders should be held to a higher standard. I want everyone in the league to enjoy
flashing the belt around and showing off. I want to spread the love, but the
Alcobalics met and exceeded that higher standard and will get to parade it
around one more time.
I think you should share it with the Fireballs though. While you are at it, I think you should share
it with everyone. This weeks challenge
is to take a picture with an Alcobalic and the belt.
Keep kickin', Ballers.
