Peninsula Bowling - Winter 18 News & Notes (Week 3)

Officially the best bowler in the Wentworth household.
Greetings bowlers! I want to apologize for the tardiness of this post. I meant to write it earlier in the week, but we were wrapping up a super-successful early bird sale for our awesome CLUBWAKA Spring Sports and was pretty busy. (How's that for an organic self promotion?)

We're officially at the halfway point of the season, so let's take some time to recognize some of the standout performances. First let's start with this past week.

TOP WEEK 3 BOWLERS

MALES
  1. Brandon Herring (Big Booty Throws): 237
  2. Guy Sumrell (Rumspringa Slingas): 235
  3. Craig Vincent (Flame Throwers): 213
  4. Brandon Herring (Big Booty Throws): 205
  5. Ed Aaron (Eye Candy): 204
Wow! The skill level of the league has exploded with 5 bowlers hitting 200 this week (The Flame Throwers Chris Granados also bowled a 200). Shoutout to Brandon Herring for hitting the mark in both games!

Big game from CLUBWAKA newcomer Craig Vincent. In his first three games of the season, he was averaging 142 pins. He exploded in the 4th game for the 215.

FEMALES
  1. Angela Barnes (Fresh Prince of Big Spares): 189
  2. Carole Sterling (Flame Throwers): 186
  3. Briana Anaya (Big Booty Throws): 179
  4. Robin Bykowski (Eye Candy): 179
  5. Robin Bykowski (Eye Candy): 178
The Ms. Consistency Award goes to Eye Candy's Robin Bykowski. She bowled a 178 in game one and improved that score by a pin in game two. Great week!

CURRENT STANDINGS

We're at the midway point in the regular season, so it's as good a time as any to start looking at the playoff race. As you know, the top 50% of the league (8-teams) will earn a berth to the Domestic Beer Trophy Championship (hey, if they want me to brand that trophy, they need to cut Uncle Waka a check. Knowwhutimsayin? Dilly dilly). The bottom 8 teams will go into a playoffs for the "B" trophy (The B stands for Brian Neal). Let's look at the risers and fallers from week 3.

ON THE RISE

  • FLAME THROWERS: The Flame Throwers were HOT this week! (Get it?) Their 1299 was the second highest team score behind Eye Candy. More importantly, they jumped up several spots from the bottom 8 to #6 overall.
  • OBVIOUSLY NOT GOLFERS: Mike Graziano bowled like doo doo in the first game, not even breaking 100. The second game he found his groove and rolled a fantastic 180. The story for the Non-Golfers was the women though. Kristen Saunders turned in her usual fantastic performance (310 series). Perhaps most impressive however was Dottie Wentworth. She came into this week rocking an 82 average. Well, she nearly doubled that in one game rolling a career high 162! <John Goodman voice> ALL RIGHT, WAY TO GO, DOTTIE!

GOING DOWN
  • SPRINGA SLINGAS: Despite a top score from Guy, they fell out of the top-8 this week. Too many shots or not enough shots?
  • MOSTLY BUT STUFF: Kind of fitting that they're falling to the rear after a tough week-3 performance.

The Oooh You Fancy Award goes to Big Booty Throws for unveiling their new custom Brandon Silver designed kits.

Reminder: If you want to get custom shirts, you can with prior approval from CLUBWAKA. Your shirt must have the CLUBWAKA logo displayed on it and we must sign-off on the design BEFORE you order. If you have any questions, please contact Brian Neal (bneal@kickball.com).

That's it for this week. We're on bye this Sunday for the Super Bowl. I hope everyone enjoys the game, except for David Tortolini. I hope he is miserable on Sunday.
