Peninsula Kickball - Playoff Time!

We made it this far! The end of the spring season. After a soggy night at War Memorial Stadium, each team has 11 games on record and we're all set to crown a champion this Saturday! 

(Sidenote before we go over the schedule and some other details: Thank you to everyone who was patient and flexible with the start times last night. There was some TERRIBLE traffic coming from the southside that made a lot of players late. Instead of a bunch of forfeits, we had teams agree to push back. The last thing this season needed was more forfeits! Despite shifting start times, all of the games were done by 8:45, so we were very efficient. Thank you all again.)
(Sidenote #2: Big thanks to all the refs who stood in the rain calling balls, strikes, safes, and outs. You da real MVPs! Especially Casey Heck, Travis Bryant, and Bryan Freed who I conscripted in a pinch. You see these men later, buy them a beer!)



The standings are all updated and here is the schedule for Saturday. Please be sure to note reffing assignments. 

• 9:30 Field 1: PBJT vs. Kick Ass (Ref: Cardiac)
• 9:30 Field 2: Foul Balls vs. Rogue (Ref: Rumspringa)
• 10:35 Field 1: Rumspringa vs Hot Dogs & Tacos (Ref: Rogue)
• 10:35 Field 2: Cardiac Arrest vs. F3B (Ref: KA)
• 11:40 Field 1 Sitch vs. PBJT/KA Winner (Ref: HDT)
• 11:40 Field 2 DCOMB vs. Foul/Rogue Winner (Ref: F3B)
• 12:45 Semi-Finals (Refs: Volunteers)
• 2:00 Championship Game (Refs: Volunteers)

REFS: The first couple rounds are covered by team assignment. The Semis and Finals will be covered by volunteers from eliminated teams. If you want to stick around and help, you will earn my deepest gratitude! Let TJ or myself know. We will give any semi or finals ref a $10 code for every game they ump. 

GOSNOLD'S HOPE PARKThe games will be played at Gosnold's Hope Park (901 E Little Back River Rd, Hampton). A couple notes about GHP

• Gosnold's Hope Park is a public park. This means that alcohol consumption is against the law. If you choose to consume you do so at your own risk. We ask that you take steps to conceal your drinks with cups and take your empties with you. 
• Again, do NOT leave your empty cans and bottles in the public park trash cans. That's just leaving evidence of the crime at the scene with CLUBWAKA's name on the permit. We love playing ball in Hampton and would prefer to continue having the opportunity to do so. 

Thank you in advance for your attention and please be sure to check your teammates. If anyone fails to follow these guidelines, they may be asked to leave the tourney. 

A FEW OTHER NOTES Saturday looks like it'll be a warm one. Be prepared. 

• I would recommend bringing some pop-up tents for shade. There really isn't much shade otherwise on the fields we play on. 
• Apply sunscreen
• Be sure to have plenty of water. 

Also note: We are going straight through and expect to finish by 3 PM. If you're a team that goes deep into the tourney, have some plan for lunch. If you don't pack some sandwiches, you can always order delicious Papa John's pizza delivered to the games. TOURNAMENT RULES/NOTESA couple things to keep in mind. 

• We are playing with no time limits, but please be respectful of your fellow league members and keep the pace of the games moving. 
• Home and Away is decided by the higher seed. We do not RPS during the tournament. 
• In the event of a tie game after 5 innings, we will go into extras using modified "Kansas City" rules. 
  • 8 fielders on defense (4 of each gender)
  • The last kicker of the previous inning starts on 2nd base
• The mercy rule is automatically invoked if a team is leading by 12 runs or more after the 3rd inning (or 2.5 if the home team has the lead)
