CLUBWAKA VA Hampton/Peninsula Bowling - Fall 2018 Guide

Welcome to the Fall 2018 edition of the CLUBWAKA VA Hampton (Sundays) and VA Peninsula (Mondays) Bowling Leagues! We're set to go for another phenomenal season! There is plenty of information on the season websites including the Rules, but keep reading for additional notes to help guide us through this adventure together.

HURRICANE FLORENCE

As of midday Wednesday, Sep 12th, we are anticipating starting both seasons as scheduled this upcoming Sunday and Monday. If anything were to change, announcements will be broadcast via email, our main Facebook group, and through your captains. You can also keep an eye on this blog post which is being updated for all of our local leagues. But please keep in mind that no matter whether the league is bowling or not, my first priority is the safety and well being of each of you. So please pay attention to risk factors such as road conditions and make the best decision for you.

PLAYOFF CHANGES

We experimented with this first tweak during summer and it was well received. So the plan is to implement this change "permanently" into the documented Rules. Basically, rather than eliminating teams after the first week of playoffs, both weeks of playoffs are combined to determine the winner.

Secondly, this next change is currently planned to be a one time "temporary" change due to running two leagues on short notice. Basically, each league will be tracked separately with separate regular season standings. For the playoffs, each league will only bowl for one champion each. Then, at the conclusion of both championship rounds, the playoff total for the Sunday champion will be compared to the playoff total for the Monday champion to determine which of those teams earns the right to have their team name etched on the Domestic Beer Trophy for all eternity! (The other championship team name will be etched on the Cup Trophy.)

PLAYERS CLUB CARDS

• Cards are deactivated every August 31st.
• Returning players will have their cards reactivated automatically.
• New players need to fill out a form at the Sparetimes front desk in order to enjoy the Players Club benefits (discounted bowling and points based rewards system for food and non-alcoholic beverages).

SCORE SHEETS

The best practices are listed in the Rules, but please see below for an example. Note the following:

• Changes to the bowling order can be made in the left column (Week 1 only).
• At least one male and one female score will count toward the Team Pin Total.
• Please ensure all scores are legible.
• The first sheet goes to the front desk.
• The second sheet goes to me (or someone acting in my stead).

STANDINGS, ROSTERS, SCORES, SCHEDULE, AND TOP PERFORMANCES

I will be tracking everything on online spreadsheets. They will be embedded in their respective season websites (Sundays/Mondays), pinned in the Facebook group, directly linked here (Sundays/Mondays), and embedded below.
