Welcome to CLUBWAKA MLS FALL 2019!

Happy Hump Day everyone!  Only a few more days until 18 TEAMS (!) are mingling and knocking the ball around out at Ft. Monroe.  For those of you that don't know me, I'm Brad Kirby, the Community Coordinator for CLUBWAKA Mediocre League Soccer and it's a pleasure to meet each and every one of you.  If you want to remember what it was like to play soccer when it was fun first, you've signed up for the right league.

I sat down this morning to write individual letters to each of you to update you on CLUBWAKA MLS happenings, but my handwriting isn't hitting on much, so email it is.  This email should serve as a way to hit the important high points and orient you to where you can find all of the MLS goodies so I'd suggest you save it, flag it, print it and tape it to your fridge, or chisel it into stone tablets.  It's super important stuff.  So let us begin...

The websiteclubwaka.com

League RulesHere -- EVERY person receiving this email should take the time to read these rules.  This is not your normal soccer league as we prioritize fun and want
EVERYONE to get to work safely on Monday.  No slide tackling, minimal physical contact, etc.  So read them, know them, live them... or you're going to be the only one complaining to the ref and everyone is going to look at you funny, point, and laugh.

The Schedule and StandingsHere -- it's very important to see where you are in the table each week, but if you don't want to look for yourself, you can read my commentary at....

The Weekly BlogHere  a lighthearted review of MLS happenings each week ---- Preseason Team Capsules (1st blog of the season) - here

Facebook GroupHere ----- This is where we do most of our communicating, so if you want to hear something first I suggest you join it.  It's also a great way to have your voice heard when we're looking for improvements, have friendly banter with other teams, and a good way to just see random Gifs that help tide you over until the next week of CLUBWAKA MLS.

Captain's Meeting: This Friday.... there's a Facebook event so if you're a captain and haven't RSVPed, please do so or send someone in your absence.  We'll cover rules, hand out t-shirts, and I'll provide you some refreshments -- if you're lucky, there may even be Capri Suns and orange slices.

Player Profiles: We've been doing some basic Player Profiles on Facebook.  If you're interested in answering a few questions and providing me a photo, I'd love to introduce you to the league.  Hit me up via email or on FB.

Signups: Signups are over and locked, so if for some reason you have any last second adds, please communicate with me directly.  Thanks!

Participation and Fun: As you can see, I'm a little too into this league.  This is the 4th season and I try to make this as fun and engaging as possible with stats, commentary, and analysis each week.  But in order for this to work, I need participation from EVERYONE.  So if you have ideas on what would be a good feature for the blog, if you want to write something for FB or the blog, or if you want to do something fun at the field or coordinate an inter-league game (cornhole or one of those beach games) at Oozlefinch, please don't hesitate to speak up.  I also like to know as many people in the league as possible, so please don't hesitate to come up and introduce yourself Week 1.

Week 1: Your captain should have your jerseys at the field, but if he/she is MIA from the Captain's meeting, I'll have them out there.  I encourage everyone to hit our sponsor, Oozlefinch Brewery, after the game.  It's supposed to be in the low 80s, so I imagine we'll have an amazing turnout.  Ryan O'Donnell and I take photos every week so if you want a team photo, an individual shot, or a Glamour Shot in front of the Port-o-John, we're up for anything.  Just catch one of us.  If for some reason you DON'T like your photo taken or don't want a photo on social media, please let us know as early in the season as possible.  Late in the season, I may get some Christmas props so we can do individual Christmas soccer photos for anyone that wants to give them to a loved one.  Stay tuned...
Alright.... that's my summary.  Hope that gives you a good overview.  Looking forward to seeing everyone and for those of you that I don't know, look forward to meeting you.
Sincerely,

Brad 'The Braddlesnake' Kirby
CLUBWAKA MLS Community Coordinator
