JFK will be Kickin' it in the Spring!

Shaw and Swenck had a lot to smile about last season.
NORFOLK, VA - Over the past two seasons, Just For Kicks has gone 21-1-1 in regular season VA Peninsula competition, scoring 215 runs in 23 games, and only allowing 23 to score against them. They completely dominated the league in a way no team has ever done before. However, in both seasons, their pursuit of the prestigious Wentworth Trophy has fallen agonizingly short, with heartbreaking losses in the finals against 4-Time league champions, The Emperors Club. Most recently, in the Fall 2010 season, JFK was up by 2 runs with the VIPs down to their last out, and they were unable to secure the victory (see video of the Fall 2010 VA Peninsula finals).

On Wednesday evening, General Manager Bryan Freed confirmed that Just For Kicks will be returning for the Spring 2011 campaign with one goal in mind; to win the title.

"We came too close last season.", Freed stated, "We're definitely coming back to finish the job.

It may be a hard road for Freed and company back to the title game, as rumors are some of the key contributors to last season's success are undecided about renewing their contracts. Among those reported to be considering free agency are All-Peninsula team members Eric Stevens, Jimmy Wilcox, JC Cashwell, and Noelle Walsh. Those individual decisions will no doubt have a major impact on the upcoming season.

I wouldn't start celebrating JFK's assassination just yet though. Even if those players do opt out, Just For Kicks will have a lot of talented kickballers. Expect them to make a push to take care of their unfinished business.
