WAKA Kicks Cancer - Thank you!

Thank you all for playing and participating in the WAKA Kicks Cancer Charity Tournament this weekend! We had an awesome turnout and I’m proud to announce that we raised over $2,000 to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life!
Congratulations to The Southside Douchers for taking home the Golden Ball!
I want to take a moment to recognize and thank some of our many volunteers who helped make this event a success!

  • Our sponsors, Fidelity Mortgage, Gately Communications, and the Pomoco Auto Group!
  • Thanks to Courtney Efird, Gene Efird, Andrea Henry, and Amber Kirby for helping secure said sponsors!
  • Thank you to Bryan Freed and Keith Morehart for assisting with field set up.
  • Big shout out to Dottie Wentworth and Jill Simms for manning the HQ tent and helping ensure we stayed close to schedule!
  • Thank you Josh Joyner and Daniel Shaw for bringing the tent and table for the HQ
  • All the people who took time out of their Saturday afternoon to volunteer to ref: Freed, Wade Brock, Mimi Gill, Matt Wellbrock, Will McKendree, Joe Presault, Dennis Gholson, Jason Burnette, Andreas Beyersdorf, and Jeremy Smithey.
  • Thank you to Andrea Henry, Barbara Wezensky, and Nikki LeBlanc for sharing their stories with the media. WAVY TV10’s The Hampton Roads Show aired a story on the tournament today! Once it is online, I will post to Facebook and Twitter. It was really good!
  • Brandon Silver – Awesome job again on the logo!
  • Thanks to the staff of WAKA central, Megan Lundquist and Sa Dao, for all of their support and assistance in the process.
  • HUGE thanks to the captains for all of their leadership and organization.
Long list, I know. I apologize, if I forgot someone. Know that a lot of people had a helping hand in making this a great event. I’m forever appreciative of them.
Finally, there will be an e-mail survey coming out soon. I encourage everyone to take a few moments to share their feedback on the event. Your input is very valuable. We will have more tournaments going forward, and we want to know what you liked and what you thought could have been done better!

Thank you!
