2017 CLUBWAKA MidAtlantic Kickball Regionals - Info Packet


Welcome to the 2017 CLUBWAKA MidAtlantic Regional Kickball Tournament! Thank you all for joining us for a tremendous weekend of kickball and parties. I want to take the time to go over a lot of information to prepare you for a fun event.

EVENT STAFF

There will be an HQ tent set up in a central location by the concessions/bathrooms. This will be the location of the check-in station, but also where you will go if you have any questions or issues that come up throughout the day.

CHECK IN

All players must check-in with CLUBWAKA at the HQ desk prior to competing. Every player will receive a wristband (needed for the party) and will have their name confirmed on the roster. The check-in table will be centrally located near the bathrooms between all three fields.

SCHEDULE

The schedules are now online at the respective event websites
  • REGIONAL FORMAT: Each team will play four pool play games beginning at 9 AM. At 2:45, the top four teams with advance to a single elimination round to determine the champion. 
  • CHARITY FORMAT: Each team will play four pool play games beginning at 10 AM. At 3:30 PM, the top two teams will compete for the championship. 
  • The length of games during pool play will be no more than 5 innings, and no new innings will start after the 50-minute mark. Be sure to start your games on time (or early when applicable), avoid excessive warm ups in between innings, provide backstops, and keep the game moving at a good pace to maximize innings played. 
  • The length of games during elimination play will be a standard 5 innings, with extra innings as needed to determine a winner. Games exceeding 90 total minutes may be subject to a time restriction at the discretion of the tournament director.
  • Fields 4 and 5 will be the featured fields for the ASBN (Amateur Sports Broadcasting Network) live stream coverage. Because we have the live stream, we will be rotating fields more often to allow for each regional team to play in front of the cameras. Extra time has been built into the schedule to allow for travel, but it's also imperative that we stay within the time frame allocated. 

REFS 

We have paid refs for each field, however, in the event that we have some cancellations, teams may be required to provide line refs for their byes. Team captains will be notified of this status in the morning. 

RULES

The tournaments will be run under standard CLUBWAKA Kickball Rules, with the following exceptions: 
  • Home team in Pool Play will be determined using RPS; Home team in the Elimination Round will be determined by the higher seed's preference. 
  • In the event of a tie, the following steps will be taken (head to head, total wins, runs allowed, run differential)
  • Any walk issued without throwing at least one strike or foul will result in two bases being awarded to the kicker. 
  • If the third and final out of an inning is recorded due to improper positioning of a base runner (see rule 10.03 or 1.06d), that will conclude the plate appearance for the player at kick and the subsequent kicker will lead off that team's next inning of kicking. 
  • There are no warnings for position infractions. Any "encroachment" will result in a free base for the kicker or the offense can decline the penalty and take the result of the play. 
  • NEW RULE FOR 2017: Only 3 foul balls are allowed per kicker. This has been reduced from the allowable 4 in league play.
  • NEW RULE FOR 2017: There are no knee ball fouls. Contact with the ball below the hip is considered a legal kick. 

REGIONAL PAYOUT/PRIZES

We aren't just playing for a trophy! The winners of the 2017 CLUBWAKA MidAtlantic Regional will receive a payout of $1,350. The runner-ups will receive $675. The payments are divided evenly among the players on the team and will be issued by check within 4-6 weeks following the event. Winners can also elect to receive their payout earlier in the form of "CLUBWAKA Bucks", which are good for any CLUBWAKA activity. 

The top four teams will also qualify to attend the 2017 CLUBWAKA Founders Cup World Championship in Las Vegas! For more information on Founders Cup and WAKAPalooza Week, be sure to visit kickball.com/founderscup.





SOCIAL EVENTS

Meet N Greet @ Lunasea (206 22nd St, VA Beach)
Friday - 6 PM
It's Cinco de Mayo and time to meet everyone playing in the MidAtlantic Tournament! Lunasea Virginia Beach is having a BLOWOUT of a Cinco de Mayo Party, and you won't want to miss out on the fun. Happy hour is from 4-7, come take a selfie with the guest donkey, enter in the "tequila worm eating contest", and take a swing at the pinata!

After Party @ Peabody's (209 21st St, VA Beach)
Saturday - 7 PM
Following the MidAtlantic Regional Tournaments, CLUBWAKA is taking over Peabody's for the biggest party of the year! We have free drafts of Bud Light until 11 PM, Happy hour drink specials until 9 PM, no cover, live entertainment, and more! This is the hottest night club at the Beach and it’s just been newly renovated. You won’t want to miss this epic party! THEME: Virginia Beach Fashion - Wear your tackiest $10 VA Beach souvenir tee shirt and rock out like a tourist! 


ABOUT THE CHARITY

The charity division is proud to support the Sentara Cancer Network Mission Funds. Contributions to the Sentara Cancer Network Mission Fund assist patients who are in need of medications and supplies not covered by insurance.  Cancer education pamphlets, books, support group meetings, and other supportive programs (art therapy, education classes, etc.) are also funded with these generous contributions.

ASBN LIVE STREAM

*GAMES LIVE STREAMED AND RECORDED* 
All regional tournaments will feature professionally produced live streamed games provided by ASBN (same company that did Founders Cup). The Tournament will have two "featured fields" (fields 4 and 5), where a full video and live stream production will take place from the first pool play game all the way to the championship.

The field and game schedule was made to rotate almost every team through the "feature fields." **If your game is on a featured field, you'll need to make an extra copy of your kicking lineup for the camera production team before you start your game.**

The link to the live stream will be emailed and posted to social media first thing Saturday morning once it's all set-up.

You'll be able to watch the full games later in the week, but you'll have to pay a fee online to see them right away.   If you can wait about 45 days, we'll be able to upload them on our tournament youtube channel.
