With Monday's games complete the first ever VA Atlantic summer season is underway!
Not only did the summer season start strong it saw seven teams, the same number we fielded in spring. While I'd like to take credit for all of that, a large part of this success was due to players spreading the word about Monday Night Kickball and recruiting new players to try out the league. If you brought someone new to the league thank you, if you brought more than one I love you.
First round of late t-shirts have arrived, I'll have them at the field on Monday just in time for week 2. If you're one of the super late signups (you signed up 12-Jul or later) I'll be doing a final t-shirt order after I close registration on Friday.
Speaking of registration we could use a couple more guys for the season. If you know anyone who wants to get in on the Monday night kickball action please encourage them to sign up.

| Ball Smashers (Smashers) Captain: Jason Brand new team sporting Cardinal Red this season. Mostly a company team this group has a couple veterans mixed in. |

| Bed Bath & Your Mom (BBYM) Captains: Will, Mimi Returning in Royal Blue is BBYM. They're looking to improve on their 2nd place finish from last season. |

| Bed Bath & Your Stepmom (BBYS) Captains: James, Val Originally a split off from BBYM, this team has pulled in a lot of players from Watch Your Balls! who played this spring in the VA Shore league. They questionably picked Navy Blue for summer. |

| Fusion Captain: Ryan Combining a mixture of veterans and brand new players, Fusion is looking for a winning season this summer. They'll be sporting Gold team shirts all season. |

| Kicks R 4 Kidz (KR4K) Captain: Aaron Returning for the third consecutive season KR4K is restocking the roster again and looking to improve from a 6th place finish last spring. On thing unchanged from last season is Orange. |

| Pucking Pandas (Pandas) Captains: Ella, Allison Another season another Panda themed name. Bringing back a large chunk of the first time free agents from last season, Pandas is once again looking to improve on the previous season. In their attempt to start fresh Pandas has ditched their traditional Heliconia and instead opted for Purple. |

| UNITY Captains: Travis, Nicole Following in the footsteps of Elite Kickball Status last season, UNITY has arrived with the goal of grabbing the VA Atlantic Monday night championship. They intend to accomplish this feat in Lime. |

Social Events
[ Standings and Info ]On opening week teams are eased into the social events with no bar game to worry about and a Team Photo as the weekly challenge. Additional points are always up for grabs of course with Bar Attendance and League Support.
All that said how did everyone do?
- Bar Attendance
Every team had a presence at the bar but some were stronger than others. BBYM, Fusion, and UNITY all had 10 or more players at the bar earning 3 points. KR4K and Pandas had 5 or more players to earn 2 points. Ball Smashers and BBYS earned 1 point. - Bar Game
No bar game this week but be ready for Jenga next week! - Weekly Challenge
Every team submitted a Team Photo (all used in the intros above). I can't really pick one over the other here so they all tied for first place earning every team 1 point for the submission and +3 points for a first place finish. - League Support
Smashers scored 2 points from a Week 1 Fashion Blog while Fusion and KR4K earned a point for field break down.

About Those Rules
This week's rule topic is a kicked ball that hits a base and then goes foul. If a ball passes inside 1st or 3rd base and then goes into foul territory it's an easy call...fair. But what about the unique situation of a ball hitting the base and then going foul without passing the 1st or 3rd base?Answer: Any ball hitting 1st or 3rd base is FAIR.
