News Around the Peninsula

With just 30 days until registration closes for the spring season, the Peninsula has 14 friend groups formed and over 80 players signed up. With all these new groups forming, it means a lot of players switching teams. Let's run down some of the news and notes for the past week.

Earlier this week, we featured a story on former VS players Wes McClain and Nikki LeBlanc as they searched for a new team. Sources close to the couple are reporting that the pair met with JFK General Manager Bryan Freed on Sunday and that the conversation went well. There may have even been a verbal commitment given to Just For Kicks. Stay tuned for confirmation...

The "Best" traps in kickball.
Rookie Keith Best has agreed to terms on a contract extension for the Spring 2011 with The Emperors Club. Best has shown great progress and potential with the VIPs in his rooke season this winter in the VA Recess league. With the addition of Best, The Emperors Club now have the man with the nicest trapezius muscles in the league. Seriously, those traps are f**king gorgeous. I keep begging him to tell me what workouts he does to get those fine sculpted muscles, but unfortunately, he has not provided me the details...

Big pick up for Off in the Corner; Kim Koricich has officially joined Chris and Crystal Tanner's new squad. Koricich made her WAKA kickball debut in the Spring of 2010 and earned 1st Team All-Peninsula honors. Koricich did not play in the Fall season while serving a suspension for performance enhancing drugs (how else do you explain her ridiculous speed?), but there is little doubt that she will return to her all star form in little time... In other OitC news, former TailGator Christopher Annette will aslso be following the Tanners to their new team as well. Annette made his debut in the Fall for the 'Gators.

Sarah Mae Rourke is the latest player to leave Just For Kicks and sign with Vicious and Delicious... It's rumored VD is also close to signing the speedy Dr. Jeremy Pinier as well (He told me he's considering their offer last night when I ran into him at Home Depot.)

Jeff White is still waiting by his phone for a captain to call him and offer him a spot on their team...

Aw, loooove...
Three pairs of couples from VA Peninsula are currently competing in WAKA's Cutest Couples contest! If you haven't had a chance to yet, please go to WAKA's Facebook page, and vote for Taylor Wilson (CT) and Emily Ross Cook (CG), Patrick and Julie Jones (VIPs), and Scotty Moriarty and Sabra Swilley (Rumspringa). If you don't vote for them, Taylor will scream and break a clip board. We don't want to see that...

In other news, The Emperors Club and NautSoJager (Jagernauts) played the reigning Founders Cup World Champions, Panik Attack in VA Recess competition on Sunday in Norfolk, VA. The results were not so good. Both teams fell 9-0 (for full video of the PA vs. VIPs game check out April Moore's youtube page)... In other VA Recess news, NautSoJager also played the Tiki Titans to a 1-1 tie. Tiki is also one of the top teams in the area and the country, so the result was a very positive one.

Well, kickball fans, that's all the news I have at the moment. Stay tuned to the WAKA VA Peninsula Blog for more news and notes as we get closer and closer to the start of the biggest and best season yet!
