Bar Buzz Week 3

"Still feeling myself I'm like outta control. Can't stop now - more shots lets go. Ten more rounds. Can I get a Kato? Paparazzi trying to make me pose. Came to party til I can't no more. Celebrate cause that's all I know. Tip the groupies takin' off their clothes. Grande finale like Superbowl... The club can't event handle me right now."

This week we separated the boys from the men, the wallflowers from the socialites, the big dogs from the wiener dogs. And never have the scores been so close. In a week where participation was counted extra, most teams brought their A-game and in the end it completely paid off. However, what really put people over the edge was their participation (or lack there of) in what began as a rivalry and continued into one of the most epic flip cup "tourney's" to date.

#15 Chicken Tetrazzini & Off in the Corner: It is rumored these teams (along with most of the Chubby Gangsters) were representing well at a unauthorized establishment. However nothing can be confirmed officially by our GMOT reporters. While we applaud your spirit, we cannot endorse any behavior that distracts us from the mission - the mission to become the most epic kickball league worldwide;. And to do this my friends, we must stick together 'ballas!

Partyin' Partyin' for nostalgia's sake... but we like you better at Luckies!

#13 Chubby Gangsters: While the rest of their team partied away from the league, AJ Derr and Jeffery Scott really held it down at Luckie's on behalf of the Carolina Blue. With their small team of 3 (including rookie Kyle Ludwig), they tied scores with many teams of who had upwards of 6 players present. Although the CG's as whole chose to take a path of nostalgia to lead them astray, no one should underestimate the capabilities of our favorite baseball diamond gurus.

#12 Jiminy Kick-It: ...cricket, cricket, cricket...

#11 Moose Knuckles: What has happened to our very first Bar Buzz Champs? Have they worn their britches too tight, too soon and worn themselves out? One thing's for sure, nothing's the same without their flurry of burgundy surrounding the bar.

#10 Saved by the Balls: Things just aren't the same at Bayside without the Hund clan, but Saved by the Balls still managed to hold their own without their fearless leader (and iron liver) in tow. Perhaps next week Allison and Jon will be back, and The Sprain will over take The Cupid Shuffle and Apache in meaningless group dances.

#9 Emperor's Club: Although they overcame their great VD nemesis, this was the
Emperor's Club poorest showing to date. Again, I ask - is there anyone that can win #1 at the field and at the bar?

#8 Vicious and Delicious: Some people argue that the best nights at the bar come after you've lost a valiantly fought battle on t
he field. And VD's record this week supports that notion. They showed up in full force this week and stayed until the wee hours of the morning, showing us all better than an after-school special that you never should underestimate the full impact of VD's.

#7 Foul Balls: Despite their 8:30 game, the Foulies put in a strong effort to defend their Bar Buzz title. Alas, it seemed that everywhere they went, the rest of the bar was two steps ahead of them. But, I don't think this will be the last we'll see of the Balls... Who's Balls??

#6 Just for Kicks:
JFK was actually the second group at the bar this week, and showed up in full force. Thanks once again to social captain, Ashley Williams who sacrificed her early morning plans (which included flying Texas) carried her team to higher rankings by participating in flip cup and ensuring their presence was known throughout the bar.

#5 Battlestar Ballsacktica: Fearing they would forever be known as the Supper Club (which really is much like a glorified Book Club without the wine), BB took a few tips from the Bar Buzz and stepped their game all the way up to the top five. This is pretty impressive following the wins they've had on the field. Could they be the ones to take #1 on the field AND at the bar? Stay tuned... because only time will tell!

#4 5 O'Clockers:
It was definitely 5 o'clock all night at Luckies' this week. Unfortunately for the 'Clockers they were facing some stiff competition in the top three. Participation in the flip cup tourney could have gotten them ahead but irregardlessly (yes I just made up that word), I am confident it will always be 5 o'clock in the top three from here on out.

#3 NKOTB: More like "Don't call us NEW, I've been here for YEARS" Kickheads On the Block. Perhaps defeated (more like, insulted) from their initial rankings in the Bar Buzz this team has come back faster than Charlie Sheen in rehab. Although it's hard to call it a comeback when you've never truly left. Watch out Pen. Div. pretty soon you might be saying "Bye Bye Bye" to any hopes at the champ belt. Oh. Wait. Wrong boy band reference.

#1 Jagernauts & Rumspringa: (aka RUM-JAGAH!) On this day (4/20/11) that is celebrated by some, perhaps its most fitting that a joint Bar Buzz Champ be awarded. Both teams consistently outpartied, outmingled, and outplayed the others this week. Perhaps if Rumpsringa had avoided some personal team fouls on the dance floor and questionable encroachment violations on Facebook, they might have managed to narrowly squeak by their alliance partners. But nonethless, let this day go down in history as the day (and the only day) a the golden belt will be awarded to two teams united by pride. And let the real question remain... can this alliance at the bar overcome what whappens at the field? Whatever the answer, I hope we will still find our brothers and sisters in blue and purple standing together at the flip cup table following the fate of their 8:30 game, united once more.

An Alliance is Born!

And of course....

Cupid Shuffle -- 1
Cha Cha Slide -- O.5
Apache -- 3 (sorry Cupid)

Until Next Week - Bottom's Up!

Author's Note: We here at the GMOT remind you drink responsibility and always find a DD when WAKA WEDNESDAYS get the better of you.

  3. While I am breaking Foul Balls corporate policy by going around our official Public Relations Rep., I think I speak for the team in offering a hearty congrats to the new Bar Buzz champs...please join us for an on-field passing of the belt (imagine the Olympic Opening Ceremonies with less goofy outfits).
